iClimaBuilt progress meeting in Athens

On June 3 and 4, 2025, the M50 Progress Meeting of the European research program iClimaBuilt was hosted at the Patission complex of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).

The event took place in the recently renovated Hall of Statues, in the building of the Historical Rectorate of the NTUA. The event was attended by representatives of the 27 project partners (including E2ARC) from 15 European countries. After the meeting, participants were given a tour of the Averof Building, learned about the history of the complex and the Foundation, and had the opportunity to visit the photo exhibition hosted in the Hall of Statues, on the theme of the Polytechnic Uprising.

With a total budget of €15 million and a duration of 54 months, iClimaBuilt is an important project that aims to establish an Open Innovation Ecosystem oriented towards promoting and supporting technologies aimed at developing Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB). Through the project's Single Entry Point, access to infrastructure, pilot production lines, testing equipment, and technical support is offered to small and medium-sized enterprises and innovative start-ups in the building technology sector.

The project is coordinated by Professor Konstantinos Charitidis of the School of Chemical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens and is expected to be completed in August. The scientific achievements of the project include the development of new materials, systems, testing and characterization procedures, digital tools, and tools to accelerate the commercial application of advanced technologies. After iClimaBuilt wraps up, WiseClimaBuild, a company set up as part of the project and partly owned by NTUA, will take over managing the ecosystem.
